Job Description:

Position Summary:

  • Reporting to a manager or Director, the ZES Corporate Alliance Executive II (CAE-2) is a full-time position. Under limited supervision, the CAE-2 is responsible for business development to add new corporate partners and optimize partner engagement to increase utilization of Zovio programs. The primary objective of the CAE-2 is to accurately represent Zovio, its subsidiaries, and partnering universities to the corporate community in a professional and service-oriented manner. The CAE-2 must be able to increase and maintain positive awareness of Zovio within the governmental and corporate communities. The position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish business development and portfolio revenue growth goals. CAE-2s are leaders with a wealth of experience and knowledge that should be shared with the rest of the business development team. Travel is required.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Structure, negotiate and close agreements and memorandums of understanding covering all Zovio products with Zovio corporate partners.

  • Maintain lasting relationships with new and existing corporate partners

  • May be asked to help develop market strategies for new Zovio products.

  • May assist manager in team projects and administrative duties

  • Actively mentor less tenured members of the team.

  • Drive business development training including curriculum development and onsite training for new members of the business development team.

  • Assist manager with interviews of business development candidates.

  • Anticipate, research, and identify opportunities for education partnerships.

  • Track and record opportunity progress in salesforce.

  • Achieve high levels of partner satisfaction through providing excellent service to clients.

  • Demonstrate respect for our partners’ cultures, comport with their ethos and all outreach guidance, and respond to partner issues to ensure long term success in this role.

  • Responsible for understanding any account sensitivities (e.g. no solicitation, limitations on employee benefits eligibility, and TPA processes), communicating these sensitivities to the rest of the account team, and ensuring compliance.

  • Responsible for customer relationship management. CAE-2s work with Event Partnership Representatives, Operations personnel, and partners to define the communications cadence and format to best serve partners’ needs and develop a foundation for long term account growth.

  • Achieve a high degree of collaboration with other members of the account team. Event Partnership Representatives, Operations personnel and CAE-2s collaborate and work side-by-side to develop and execute on account plans involving partner engagement, student recruitment strategies and event strategies to achieve high level account performance targets such as APPINs and active students. CAE-2s will work collaboratively with other departments, as needed for the role.

  • Responsible for event management and support. This includes scheduling and executing events independently and, as appropriate, working with Education Partnerships Representatives to provide guidance for event scheduling and execution.

  • Achieve engagement across partners’ entire business geographic footprint, including operations divisions. This includes developing a deep understanding of partner strategic needs and solutions to address these needs.

  • Engage with partnering university faculty and Zovio subsidiaries to determine opportunities for partner focused academic offerings as well as to provide the academic team market insight.

  • Responsible for student outreach. Communicate partner benefits to potential students is critical to account performance. This includes mail announcements, company newsletters, webinars and in-person events (e.g. newsletters, internal electronic information boards, e-mail announcements, teleconferences, table sits, lunch & learns, staff meetings, posters & account specific flier distribution, pay check stuffers).

  • Responsible for the student experience within their accounts. This includes collaboration with Enrollment Services, Student Services, and Financial Services team members as necessary.

  • Ability to gain detailed understanding of markets, segments, and segment organizations with a focus on identifying those entities which align with Zovio and our partnering universities’ strategic objectives.

  • Stay apprised of current events within the markets while maintaining current and thorough knowledge of all the degree programs, plus applicable regulatory, operational, and compliance guidelines of industry and our university partners.

  • Anticipate, research, and identify opportunities for promoting Zovio and our university partners.

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting progress against account performance targets and updating account plans to achieve targets. This includes preparation of materials for internal and external account reviews.

  • Provide weekly activity reports to their managers as well as real-time documentation of activities via tools such as salesforce.

  • Develop and deliver presentations to small and large groups

  • Respond with timely internal and external communication

  • Ensure meticulous execution of all projects and work, with data and content consistently accurate and well presented

  • Able to multi-task and meet weekly deadlines

  • Conscientious and responsible with company resources including monthly expense allowance

  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines

  • Strong business acumen; the ability to recognize marketing and business development opportunities and to pursue them strategically

  • Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and excellent follow through

  • Must have proven results in business development preferably with large organizations

  • Proven track record of producing measurable value to their department

  • Leadership or managerial experience.

  • Both a self-starter and a team-player, able to perform in a fast-paced environment

  • High degree of self-determination and motivation, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability, preparation, responsiveness and service

  • Must be able to multi-task and meet weekly deadlines

  • Must have a valid driver's license applicable to the State in which position is located

  • Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends

  • Salesforce, PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills required

  • Strong commitment to quality and accuracy

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience

  • Experience in higher education market and industry

  • Experience in working from a home office environment preferred

  • Business development and/or sales experience of non-tangible or service oriented items


  • BA/BS degree required from a Regionally or approved Nationally accredited university. All candidates must provide proof of official transcripts upon request.
